The Stages of Love, Demonstrated Through Pop Culture
Like Elizabeth Kübler-Ross's stages of grief, there are many stages of love. In light of the upcoming Valentine's Day un-holiday at the end of the week, we thought we'd demonstrate these through pop culture.
Stage 1:Flirtation and Dating
"Does she like me?" "When will he call?" "Should we make the move from a mid-week date to a weekend night?" When things are going well, everything is sunshine and roses...but all it takes is one bad date to ruin the romance. Don't believe us? Check out Very Special Episodes: Dates Gone Bad and ask yourself: does art imitate life, or does life imitate art.
Stage 2: Love
"Do you want to meet my parents?" "Let's move in together." "Will you marry me?" The long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, satin sheets - it's all very romantic. But there are tricks to be learned from the masters - so check out Old School Romance, and learn from the masters - Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant and more.
Stage 3: Heartbreak
"We need to talk." "It's not you, it's me." "Let's be friends." No questions here...when it's over, it's really over. And no one quite knows heart break like music stars - particularly country music stars. But whenever faced with heartache, it's good to remember that love will come again - as many, many, many pop stars have sung over time. They're in love, they're out of love - check out the rollercoaster that is love on Heart to Heart playlist.
