It's the Final Countdown
Yes, yes, it is the final countdown to the elections, and to Halloween, but I am actually referring to the song from one of the great hair bands of the ‘80s, Europe. This week the song kicks off our new Monster Ballads channel, where grown, hairy men express their vulnerabilities and their love in song. Over the last 20 years, fashion and grooming have improved – and these songs are on their way to becoming “classics.” Or at least web parody karaoke classics. You’ll want to listen to the entire playlist because – and I can’t believe I’m embarrassing myself like this admitting this in “public” – but the last song on the list is the first single I ever bought.
If the emotions wrought from these power ballads are too much for you, take a break with our Halloween Costume Party Playlist – videos where the artists have dressed up in costume. Now you might think to yourself that singers are always dressed up when they’re performing, but there’s a difference between “dressing up” and “dressing up in costume.” At least we think there is.
Finally, to keep with this Tuesday's musical theme, we have our first Joost Jockey. He’s probably most famous as a rapper but he’s also an actor and has a new reality show premiering tonight in the U.S. Need another hint? His first hit was Gangsta’s Paradise. Still stumped? Well, the name of his new show gives it away – it’s Coolio’s Rules – and you can check out some clips from the show as well as his favorite Joost shows and videos now on Coolio’s Joost Jockey page.
