New features on Joost.com

Perhaps you’ve noticed a couple of changes around here over the past couple of days?

Up first is a new design for our What’s On page and a fancy new “Wall of Video Goodness,” featuring some of the newest and most popular shows on Joost. And now you can easily find the most popular shows and channels, as well as our brand spanking new shows, at the top of the page.

Which brings me to improvement number two: updates to our channel and show pages, which we fondly call our Joost Links. Channel pages now have thumbnail and program descriptions, so you can make more informed decisions about what you want to watch.

These are cool, yeah, but they don’t hold a candle to my favorite new development. Now, when you go the show Joost Link pages, you’ll find a link to see related shows. A lot of the shows even have my favorite feature, the “People who watched this also watched” list of shows.

We’ll continue to add more of these features to Joost.com in the coming months, but would love to hear what you think. Comment – here on the blog now – and let us know what you think.*

* Yes, the comments are moderated, so if there’s a little lag between when you submit your comment and when it’s posted, that might be why.

KingArtus - thanks for the ideas. Stay tuned ...

Daz - We're working on expanding our international library. We're adding new shows all the time, so while they're not all available in Australia, our library there is growing too.

Smumdax:

On the forum, there is about 20 pages of people asking why they can no longer watch shows... most of them are having error #2012... and there absolutely no answer regarding this matter... I have been using Joost last year, then stopped a while because it was addictive!... Tody, I went back to it to look at what was new... I have been forced to upgrade (actually, reinstall the full program) then an error came up about some ocx file (clicked ignored) then program was installed, started and.. I never got any sow, always telling me it's unavailable...

Could you finally answer to the 20 pages of people asking for an answer? Even if you ain't got any, just go and tell so that we don't wait in depair...

Kerry:

Smumdax,

Error 2012 happens when Joost can't get through your Internet connection for some reason. In many cases, this is because of a firewall. If that's the case, it's easy to fix: either you or your IT person should open port 4166 to both TCP AND UDP traffic.

The other causes for this are a bit more cloudy and complex, but you could try using Joost in a different location - which is a lot easier if you have a laptop.

We'll post this on the forum thread too. Thanks!

YES... More Content for the Wold will be Nice...

It is an realy big problem... All interest Stuff is only US, and that is not realy a Rights problem, it is an "Viacom -CBS" Head problem... they lifes in the USA, ok,

but the usa is not the Worl, it is an Part of the World !!! Look at the Paramount channel, the most Germen Content is Down... Why?

In germany we have a lot of Firm, but joost dosent advert they, so they dont know about Joost, about the Opportunities of the internet...

Joost musst wort Internetional... nott only US

Hi KingArtus -
We're working on expanding our international library.

With regard to the Paramount Germany channel, from time to time, shows on Joost expire.

Thanks for all the great feedback.

I too have recently began receving error message 2012, I'm use internode Australia as my isp.. I know of others who live locally that have the same problem, and then others who dont! It was working perfectly until a few weeks ago, I've tried reinstalling etc, and I am not running a firewall.. I'm also an onsite computer tech so I've tried alot of avenues! Anyone with info on a fix .. it would be great

Gustav:

Hang on folks, it's just that these are new clips and you just need to let it take some time to make it work. It's all P2P so when enough people watch these, the clips will work!
