Nightmares and fantasies
To state the obvious, the Halloween season is upon us. Even though it happens on the same day every year, I always end up scrambling around at the last minute, trying to figure out a costume -- and this year is no different. There’s a week to go and I’m going to dress up and I still can’t commit to a costume.
The dressing up and silliness is the part of the holiday I like.
I am not a fan of the horror part. I startle easily. Friends refuse to go to any sort of suspenseful movie with me because I am the one in the audience that screams out loud. Shriek might be the more accurate word. And it is completely uncontrollable.
Which is why everyone at work is all over me right now. I’ve been watching the Joost Halloween Channel to get in the spirit. Needless to say, intermittent shrieking and gasping is not conducive to the work environment.
But honestly – a rat in my bed? There’s nothing that scares me more. Although I have to admit that I am getting some costume ideas from last year’s Halloween parade. Aspara-gal, anyone?
